Fujian Polytechnic Normal University (FPNU) is a public four-year university administered by Fujian Provincial Government. Founded in 1977, FPNU was approved by China’s Ministry of Education in 2019 on the basis of Fuqing Branch of Fujian Normal University. Devoting itself to fostering high-quality applied talents, practical skill-oriented professionals and vocational education teachers, FPNU is the only university in Fujian Province that cultivates teachers for vocational education and the chairman unit of Fujian Province Teachers of Vocational Education Development League. With special attention paid to engineering, it is an applied normal university promoting coordinated disciplinary development between Liberal Arts, Science, Engineering, Education, Economy, Law, Management and Art.
FPNU is situated in Fuqing, a city with long history, a nascent modern industry port city, a famous hometown of overseas Chinese, and a national civilized city. Fuqing is also home to zones of China’s major regional strategies, such as the Core Area of the 21st-Century Maritime Silk Road, Fujian Pilot Free Trade Zone, Fuzhou New Area, National Innovation Demonstration Zone, National Marine Economic Development Demonstration Zone.
Currently, the University consists of two campuses, Wumashan Campus and Shizhushan Campus. It has twelve secondary schools and an enrollment of nearly 9,000 undergraduates. In recent years, FPNU has been actively connected with the “One Belt, One Road” Initiative. Centering on the industrial demand of the China-Indonesia “Two Countries, Twin Parks” project, FPNU has engaged in active international cooperation and exchange, expanded opening-up operation pattern, and established solid cooperative relations with more than 30 universities and research institutions from Japan, Indonesia, New Zealand, Thailand, South Africa and other countries. It boasts relevant think tanks for Japan and Indonesia studies.
I. Admission Category
FPNU offers Bachelor degrees with duration of 4 years. Every academic year begins at September. Programs will be provided in Chinese. Graduation certificate along with bachelor’s degree will be conferred on students who has met the requirements of FPNU’s enrollment and examination management.
II. Admission Programs
FPNU’s 2022 enrollment plan is subject to the source of applicants. Applicants can report two voluntary majors. For more information about available majors, please refer to the attached 2022 Major Catalogue for International Students of Fujian Polytechnic Normal University.
III. Application requirements
1. Applicants should be of good character, willing to abide by China’s laws and regulations, as well as the rules of FPNU. Also, respect for Chinese social ethics and customs is essential.
2. Applicants must be foreign citizens in good health, aged between 18 and 35, possessing a valid ordinary passport.
Note: Residents of mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan who come to China as foreign students after immigrating to a foreign country must hold a valid foreign passport for more than 4 years (inclusive) and have lived abroad for more than 2 years in the last 4 years (before April 30, 2022) (the actual residence abroad for 9 months in a year can be counted as one year, depending on the entry and exit stamps).
3.Applicants should have high school degree or an equivalent degree to high school degree in China, and have secured good grades.
4. Applicants should have the certificate of HSK (4th level or above). If the Chinese proficiency does not meet the required standard, applicants may take Chinese course in FPNU for either half a year or one year. Applicants who complete their middle school education in Chinese can be exempted from submitting HSK score certificate when applying for undergraduate admission, but the corresponding educational proof is required.
IV. Application Time (Beijing Time)
Prior to August 25th each year. (FPNU’s academic year usually starts in September, specific date is subject to the notification.)
V. Application Materials
1.Application Form for International Students of Fujian Polytechnic Normal University. It must be completed in Chinese or English. And applicant’s signature should be affixed to the form.
2. Copy of valid passport.
3. Three recently taken two-inch, half-length, bareheaded, full-faced color photos with white background.
4. Academic transcript of senior high school study, or transcript of equivalent study, and copies of graduation certificate.
5. Personal Statement. (Personal Statement should be no less than 400 words, written in Chinese or English. The content of the statement includes personal study, work experience, motivation to study in China, reasons for major selection, personal development goals after graduation, etc.)
6. Economic assurance. (Proof that verifies personal financial capability, such as proof of income, deposit certification, etc.)
7. Non-Criminal Record.
8. Copy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form (The applicant should be examined in strict accordance with the items in the form. Forms with missing items or without the signature or seal of the doctor shall be deemed invalid. Since the results of the examination are valid for 6 months, the applicant is requested to determine the time for his/her medical examination accordingly.)
9. Copy of certificate of Chinese proficiency.
If there’s a resume and other materials that can prove one’s comprehensive ability (such as reference, honor certificate, proof of participation in social activities, etc.), please add them to the attachment.
Note: Please submit all application materials in the above order at one time. If the application materials are verified to be not true or intentionally deceiving, the admission qualification will be cancelled. If the above materials are in a foreign language other than English, notarized translations in Chinese or English should be provided. Application materials will not be returned after submission, please back up.

VII. Admission and Registration
1. All application materials will be reviewed by relevant departments/schools of FPNU after applicant’s submission. Candidate selection is based on voluntary reporting. The admission result will be timely released on FPNU’s website. Approved applicants will receive Fujian Polytechnic Normal University Admission Notice and Visa Application Form for Foreign Students Studying in China (Form JW202) from FPNU.
2. Approved applicants should take the Fujian Polytechnic Normal University Admission Notice and Form JW202 to the Chinese Embassy or Consulate in the local country to apply for a study visa (Visa X).
3. Approved applicants should register at the Overseas Education College of FPNU according to the date designated in the Notice, and pay the registration fee and related fees. The Admission Notice, JW202 Form and relevant certificates should be submitted for registration. For those who cannot register on time due to special circumstances, they should contact FPNU in advance, and registration may be deferred upon approval. Normally, the academic year of FPNU starts in early September.
4. When arriving in Fuzhou or Xiamen city by plane, newly admitted freshmen can transfer to Fuqing or Fuzhou Railway Station by high-speed train. FPNU provides the first free pick-up. Please inform us of the train number and date in writing in advance.

VIII. Information on fees
1. Tuition
Tuition for Liberal Arts major: 15000 CNY/school year
Tuition for Science and Engineering major: 16000 CNY/school year
Tuition for Fine Art major: 19000 CNY/school year
Note: Tuition should be paid in lump sum upon enrolment. And the paid tuition will not be refunded except for force majeure factors.
2. Accommodation fee: FPNU is equipped with special dormitories for international students, mainly double or triple rooms. Students can apply separately under special circumstances. Double room costs 6,000 CNY per year per person, triple room costs 4,000 CNY per year per person, with water and electricity costs excluded.
3. Insurance fee: The insurance fee is 800 yuan/year/person. All international students must be insured in accordance with China’s relevant regulations and FPNU’s requirements. Registration will be denied to those who are not insured.
4. Miscellaneous Expenses: textbook fee, medical examination fee, visa fee, application fee for residence permit, etc. The specific costs depend on actual prices.
IX. Scholarship Application
1. Provincial Government Scholarship of Fujian
Qualified students can apply for Fujian Provincial Government Scholarship.
2. Principal Scholarship for International Students of Fujian Polytechnic Normal University:
1) Full scholarship exempts international students from tuition and accommodation fee during their studies, excluding utilities, insurance, and other expenses.
2) Partial Scholarship covers part of the tuition for international students during their stay in FPNU.
3) Living allowance is granted to some of the outstanding students at the rate of 1,000 CNY per month per person. (The monthly living allowance is limited to on-campus students and not available to students who take online courses.)
